11 posts in this topic

Hi, I have some gunshells in my collection since I begun to collect some years ago..

Now I'm a lot interested in the story after these.. The only I know is the year and wich army used it.. Now I would like to learn more about them if possible? ;)

With artillery used it?

What does the marks mean?

For interest, I am attaching a snap of some Trench Art my brother picked up at an antiques centre in the Charlton Kings recently.

It is a shaped brass shell with the word SOMME inscribed upon it. At the base from the 12 o'clock position are inscribed 11, at three o'clock there is inscribed 18 DEC

at 6 o'clock L2217 (space) 15 (space) P there is an upside down L below the P.

Regards

Jimmy
