This database sounds like a transcription of the Finding Aid mentioned in the following topic, although no details are given on the Ancestry page as to the actual source.

Can anyone confirm?

The reference to the Open Government Licence suggests that is the case.  I've seen mention that the MoD records team were offering some sort of lookups at the recent Who Do You Think You Are Live  event recently
