Pte. 30698 Steven Oram, 4/Worcs died 100 years ago today

Private Steven Oram, 30698 4th Battalion, The Worcestershire Regiment. Born 1889.

Married his Rose, winter 1915, and enlisted in Bristol.

Arrived in France shortly before his death on on 3rd September 1916 at No. 21 C.C.S. Corbie from wounds received.

Probably whilst attached to 7th or 8th Battalion Worcestershire Regiment who were supporting the attacks astride the Ancre that day.

 

Buried La Neuville Cemetery, Corbie

 

He was 27

 

His inscription is from Rose...

 

 

NOT GONE FROM MEMORY
NOR FROM LOVE
BUT GONE TO
OUR FATHER'S HOME ABOVE

 

To Steven and all the fallen from this day

Update for completeness: he was attached 14th Warwickshires when KIA. From that we can know with some certainty what happened to him.
