Presumably a simple scanning error.

It doesn't rhyme either.

There is a group of diesel locomotives named after British regiments. One of these was christened by the late Queen Mother and it was possible to hear quite clearly that she had named it "Royal Anglican Regiment".

Those of us who are both Anglians and Anglicans do know the difference, though! So did St Gregory, presumably (non angli, sed anglici).

It seems very common for some to confuse the words Anglian and Anglican. I have heard over the years several news presenters refer to the Royal Anglican Regiment.

I thought that perhaps the RACD had been renamed and confined to one denomination...or that it was a new regiment.

Ah, but I was using a version which conflated St Gregory's original with Sellar & Yeatman's version, "Not Angels, but Anglicans", commanding St Augustine to go and convert the rest.

Perhaps not the right place to remind lads and lassies of the once popular song 'Bomben auf Engeland'! Or were they singing about the communist chappie and not angels?

Out of interest (and I merely ask), why is this thread still soldiering on despite having lapsed into Banter, when a thread about Sassoon and other war poets has been severely pruned and members reprimanded for the Skindlerisation of the thread?
