Hi peter, not sure if this is any help but there was a J.C Jubb killed in action on the 23rd july 1916 serving with 4 K.O.Y.L.I in the salient. He was a 2nd lt. This came from the regimental history. Maybe your man or your mans brother. G company of the 4th battalion came from Batley but i dont know if he was from G coy or not. Cheers Ian.

1901 Census (Batley, Yorkshire)

George B(ennet) Jubb abt 1860 Batley, Yorkshire, England Head

Ada Jubb abt 1861 Batley, Yorkshire, England Wife

George B Jubb abt 1886 Batley, Yorkshire, England Son

Joseph Jubb abt 1887 B Subject, Austria Son

Alice M Jubb abt 1889 B Subject, Austria Daughter

Frederic A Jubb abt 1891 Austria Son

Charles E Jubb abt 1892 Batley, Yorkshire, England Son

Kathleen Jubb abt 1894 Batley, Yorkshire, England Daughter

William Jubb abt 1896 Batley, Yorkshire, England Son

George Senior's profession is listed as "living on own means". The 1881 Census has George Senior's father as a Wool Merchant, and his uncles as Solicitor and Wool Merchant again. In 1891 the family would have been in Austria, presumably.

J C Jubb is James Critchley Jubb. Probably a relation but not a brother by the looks of things.

Steve.
