Living History Weekend, Newhaven Fort, East Sussex

See the Fort 'come alive' as re-enactors & guides recreate life from Napoleonic times through to WW2.

Groups attending are, the Coldstream Regiment of Foot 1815, the Croix de Guerre, War on the Eastern Front 1914-21, Grymm Tooms Travelling Museum, a Yeomanry group & myself, Tommy 1418.

They'll also be 'handling collections' from the Fort's own artifacts (normally kept behind glass) & historical 'story-telling'.

Gommecourt - A Forlorn Endeavour.

Talk and battlefield tour by Alan MacDonald (GWF member Bill MacCormick), author of 'Pro Patria Mori' and 'A Lack of Offensive Spirit?'

Venue: 'Ocean Villas', Auchonvillers, starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday, 9th June.

The Lunch Time Lecture will begin at 1pm local time and will be held in the study area close to Avril William's museum in the village of Auchonvillers.
The talk will last about an hour (if you can get Bill to stop talking!) and will be followed by a guided battlefield tour of the 46th (North Midland) Division's front plus a few key points on the 56th (1st London) Division's front.

There will be an opportunity to speak to Bill after the presentation.

Cost will be 10 Euros per person, which includes an aperitif.
Lunch and refreshments are available on site and there is ample parking.
