Paul Cobb has been a member of the WFA since 1984 and was Membership Secretary for several years and then Vice Chairman. Both his grandfathers fought in the Great War and served in Egypt, France, Belgium and Ireland. Paul first visited the battlefields in 1969 and has made many visits since.
His main interest is the Australian Imperial Forces and this led to an immense amount of research on the Attack at Fromelles and eventually to the publication of Fromelles 1916 in 2007.
The talk covers the background to the attack, the formation of the two divisions involved, the attack itself, the aftermath, commemoration, the discovery of the grave and the creation of the new war cemetery.
