The 22nd of April, eh?! Ye *******! I get back from a trip on the 21st! Hmm? I'll see if I can persuade the wife to let me go away on another trip so soon. I'll keep an eye on the thread for location and kicking off times!
With a bit of luck I might just get there.

Cheers for noo.

I'm seriously getting worried that this thread is becoming inhabited by "big wumans blouses" who are scared of their wives. Firstly George now Colin.

Just tell her colin that you are going. She can do the ironing, hoovering and empty the dishwasher for you getting back. Dont give her any leeway or next she'll be asking for housekeeping !

But, nothing gets ironed in my house, we don't have a washing machine (unless you count me), and I tend to do most of the hoovering. Money for house keeping? I do the all the cooking and all the shopping! Except for shoe shopping, obviously! And anyway, "big wuman's blouse"? You ain't seen my "wuman". Five foot, ten, Amazonian redhead! You "tell" her!!!  Posted Image

Hi George,

In an earlier message you said postpone from Friday 15th to Friday 22nd.   However, a more recent one says Friday 21st.  I have been assuming it is tomorrow, Friday 22nd and hope to be there, assuming we are quorate.

Neil, can you make Friday?

Oops - well spotted, Jim - I'll edit that last message to avoid confusion. Friday 22nd it is!

It will be a nice change for George to drink with Scotsmen for a change after all his cross-border jaunts!

Hi George,
I can't make it this weekend or next but what about the 28th May after the WFA meeting?  By the way, did you know that the second hand bookshop in St Andrews has a copy of Haig's Dairies, edited by Blake?

Cheers

Jim

Hi Jim, at the moment the 28th is looking OK for me - though immediately after the WFA meet would be too early for me; the usual time in the evening would be fine.

Haven't been in the St Andrews bookshop for ages, but do have Blake's edition already, though thanks for the heads up. Until such time as DH's entire Papers are published, either online or in print, Blake is an essential companion to the Sheffield & Bourne edition for those unable to easily access the complete originals.

I'm sorry to say that I won't make the 28th. I have an early morning flight (6a.m.) from Glasgow and I don't fancy a Tay valley sized hangover accompanying me on the journey!
Hopefully I'll be able to catch up with you all soon,
regards
Ian

Hi

For information, Peter Hart is giving a talk about Gallipoli at the Edinburgh Book Festival on Wednesday 17 August at 14.30.  I think the admission fee is £10 or £8 for concessions.

Cheers

7:30 for 8.00 is usual :) 8.00 for 8.30 is your usual Ian. I might manage to toddle down for a half pint.
