This sounds pretty amazing. The name of each Canadian soldier killed in the Great War is to be projected onto the night sky starting next Tuesday until November 11. Each name will be first shown in London and then make it's name across Canada at the same time in each respective time zone. A name will appear every 8 seconds.

As NPM noted, I should have added that those of you with Canadian relatives who died in the Great War you can look up on the Vigil website as to when exactly their name will light up the sky.

What a great way of remembering - I'll be there for two of the men from my memorial - Privates Marcus Bromet and John Spittle: Canada House in Trafalgar Square is just round the corner from what is laughingly called my place of work

Projection on the night "sky" would not be a problem here as it is cloudy most of the time!

There were well over 100 Buckinghamshire men who joined Canadian regiments and it is very moving to watch their names appear on the website for 8 seconds at exactly the time that is quoted.  I have managed to photograph some of the names and hope to include them in the soldier's profiles on our own Buckinghamshire Remembers website.

It must have taken a lot of organisation and skill to make something like this run so smoothly.  There is time to reflect as each name is shown - two names are shown each time.   Many of the soldiers were living in their childhood, just a few miles from my home, and yet their names are being seen and remembered all over the world.

It was quite strange since there was a Poilsh Band playing when I got there, so the square was packed, and within half an hour the concert was finished

That sounds promising, am debating whether to go in tomorrow night - if the square was full of rowdies I'd be really disappointed.

Isn't this fantastic!! Imaginative, visually impressive and so dignified. Why are we Brits always being shown how to do these things by others? The free access to records in Oz while we pay through the nose also comes to mind!

Cecil Frank Fenn was KIA with the PPCLI on May 4th 1915 will be shown tonight at 2330 London time. Cecil was originally from Dedham and emigrated in 1912. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Menin Gate.

He is not on the Dedham War Memorial.
