I am reading Blood on the Banner The Republican Struggle in Clare. A passage in the book refers to the killing of a British Soldier in a Unionist Club in Clare, the soldier is named as Sergeant Rue or Rew Royal Scots. The book states that the killing took place on or about the 16^th of April 1921. I am unable to find this soldier on CWGC or SDGW, anyone have any information on him.

Duncan Royal Scots 45922 and Labour Corps 6377
Henry  Royal Scots 39127 and Royal Scots Fusiliers 40775

Henry Rew was kia 13 September 1917

Thank you all for the replies, I think now his name was defiantly Rew as I have also found his name on a list of a memorial service held in Dublin for those killed in Ireland during the War of Independence, he is listed as Sergeant S. Rew 2^nd Royal Scots. I have tried searching the Possible Non-Commemorations thread on this site but the search engine appears to return a lot of results not related to my search.

I believe I found your man.  There is a MIC for Sgt. Sydney T. Rew, 12002, Royal Scots, at the National Archives in WO 372/16.
The National Probate records for U.K. list Sidney Thomas Rew, born about 1890, with a death date of 1921.
The 1901 Census for England lists "Sidney Thomas Rew," born about 1890, in London, as living in London
at the time of the census.  The BMD Birth Index lists the birth registration for "Sidney Thomas Rew" during the
3rd Quarter (July, August, September) of 1889, at St.Olave Southwark, London.  Given the correct name, rank,
and unit in the MIC and the correct year of death in the probate records, this would appear to be your man.

The death of Sidney Thomas Rew was registered in Ennis in the June Quarter of 1921, estimated year of birth was 1890.
