Hi All,

another quick update to say transcription of the South Lancs Medal Rolls is still going well, with over 65% of the pages done, resulting in more than 28,000 entries so far. We're still looking for volunteers, so if anyone is interested please contact me.

Hi All,

another quick update. We've now transcribed 85% of the South Lancs Medal Rolls, with over 32,000 entries now. The SLR 1914 Star and SLR 1915 Star have been completed. So has the section of the Labour Corps 1915 Star roll showing ex-SLR men. Nearly there with SLR BWM/VM. We'll soon be starting on SWB, extracting South Lancs entries from the Preston and Shrewsbury rolls. If anyone comes across South Lancs references in other units' rolls we'd appreciate any info. Similarly if anyone has images of other units' rolls that show ex-SLR men then we'd really appreciate copies so we could transcribe and add to our database. This would particularly apply to Labour Corps and Lancashire Fusiliers, units many SLR men ended up with.

Another quick update. We've now transcribed 95% resulting in over 37,000 entries. Once again, if anyone comes across South Lancs references in other units' rolls we'd appreciate any info. Similarly if anyone has images of other units' rolls that show ex-SLR men then we'd really appreciate copies so we could transcribe and add to our database. This would particularly apply to Labour Corps and Lancashire Fusiliers, units many SLR men ended up with. All of the entries will be available on our website next year. www.sthelenspals.org.uk In the longer term the site will also have short biogs of all the men who served with the battalion and photos where possible.

Latest update. 100% now transcribed. That's over 7,000 pages producing over 41,000 entries. The VM/BWM and SWB Rolls will be on the website as soon as possible. Thanks to everyone who helped.

SWB Medal Rolls now on the website. These are mainly Infantry(Preston) and Infantry(Shrewsbury) with some other bits and pieces thrown in. In all cases only SLR or ex-SLR men are included.
