Hi all,

Usual story of doing the family tree. Just found out that a relative died in Aberdare Red Cross Hospital, Merthyr Tydfil.

Does anyone have any info on the place its self  or where I might find any of it's records?

Thats all I could really find, its quite mad, I live 10 minutes away and never knew there was a hospital there

Gaz,

Thanks for the pointer on the local records office, however I'm told the records aren't great but you never know.

From another post that went up earlier Suppose I could try the red cross directly.

I bet I've started that "it's just up the road, what can I found out?" ball rolling now haven't I?

From the link I've given it would seem the building was Hospital then a school then back to a hospital during ww1. Its now called Tegfan Old peoples home so that gave me the location via google maps and I had a look at an 1885 and 1900 map and that location is listed as a Union workhouse then Industrial school which tallies up nicely. Its certainly the right area as there is a Windor street and a Lord Windor Public house near by too
