A newspaper report states that Major Thomas Llewelyn Davies MC RAFdied as a result of an accident (nfd) at Winchester. I wonder if someone can look him up in Airmen Died please with a view of ascertaining the circumstances.

That's him. The CWGC entry states RAF with RFA as Secondary unit.
He was a former student of Bangor University and appears on the University Memorial.

Thanks a lot.

You may already have this, but I think the pilot was;

Name:DAWSON, WILLIAM ERNEST
Initials:W E
Nationality:United Kingdom
Rank:Captain
Regiment/Service:Royal Air Force
Secondary Regiment:Royal Field Artillery
Secondary Unit Text:and
Age:24
Date of Death:16/09/1918
Additional information:Son of William Frederick Dawson, of Llantarnam Hall, Newport.
Casualty Type:Commonwealth War Dead
Cemetery:MALPAS (ST. MARY) CHURCHYARD

His Duvigny's entry simply says he was posted to Worthy Down Camp, Winchester and was killed as a result of an aeroplane accident there.

Flight magazine only says "the result of a flying accident".

Simon

I don't think it's the same man. He was an RFA man on attachment looks like. The age doesn;t sit right and the name is slightly different but I'll have a play on the census anyway. Cheers.

IPT. Thanks for the info. I note you say you think Dawson was the pilot. Can you tell me what the source is please for
""DAVIES, THOMAS LLEWELYN MC. He was killed whilst flying in RE8, D4746 of the Artillery and Infantry Co-operation School and is buried in Swansea (Cwmgelly) Cemetery."

Airmen Died confirms the pilot as being Capt William Ernest Dawson who was also killed.  He was buried in Malpas (St Mary) Churchyard.
