The papers of a man I am studying at the moment (a returned POW) state that in March 1919 he was sent on an attachment to the "No 2 V P Area" in the "23rd Army Corps area at St Albans". He served at the "P/W camp Chipping Ongar".
What on earth was this all about? "P/W" at a guess is "prisoner of war"? but what is "V P"? All thoughts gratefully received.
