I am compiling a database of men who served on Gallipoli but who then died in other theatres of war, in other words Gallipoli veterans.
I have trawled through the 'Additional Information' section on CWGS and have (I think) identified all those where it mentions service at  Gallipoli, Dardanelles, Suvla Bay etc so I am intereted in those others who fit into this category of veterans whom members know of through their research.

Major Edgar Sawer M.C. was a Gallipoli Vet. He went on to serve in Egypt and Flanders. Drop me a message with your E-mail and I will mail you what I have. He was from England but served with the Australians as a machine gun expert, Awarded Military Cross and Mentioned In dispatches three times. Died age 40 on 31st May 1918.

After service at Gallipoli (Helles and Suvla) 9/Warks served in Mesopotamia and Dunsterforce. Those who died/commemorated at M and D are...

6 Egypt (probably Meso casualties)
18 India (Meso casualties)
353 Mesopotamia

It is difficult to determine how many of these were Gallipoli vets and not drafts from England. They were not all killed in other theatres as amongst the Meso are deaths from malaria/climatic conditions etc. In addition one could have added those who were evacuated to home hospitals and subsequently died and are in municipal cemeteries etc. I suppose some work on service numbers (I am no expert) could let me isolate definite Gallipoli vets. I have some details for all the numbers given in a Warwicks database.

Here are the men from Hucknall, Nottinghamshire, who served at Gallipoli before dying in other theatres:

15380 Pte. Ezra Bagnall, Lincolnshire Regiment. Served on the Peninsula with 6th Battalion, served with 5th & 8th battalions on the Western Front. Died of gas-induced bronchitis on 9th January 1920.

20226 L/Cpl. Thomas Beecroft, 2nd Notts & Derby, k.i.a. F&F 23rd March 1918. Served with 9th Battalion of the Shewood Foresters at Gallipoli.

PO/79(S) Sergeant Thomas Henry Blackamore, 2nd Battalion Royal Marine Light Infantry, died Germany 9th September 1918. Wounded with Portsmouth Battalion, RND, 3rd-6th May 1915 at Gallipoli. POW 28th April 1917.

Second Lieutenant (William) Alan Brodie, 3rd attd. 16th Royal Welsh Fusiliers, d.o.w. F&F 13th May 1918. Served on the Peninsula as 13085 Cpl., 9th Notts & Derby, where he was twice wounded.

20317 Pte. Joseph Crockett, 1st (Garrison) Battalion Notts & Derby, who drowned in Egypt 24th August 1916. He had served with 9th Battalion of the regiment at Gallipoli.

17161 L/Cpl. Anthony John Harley, 1st Battalion North Staffs., k.i.a. F&F 30th April 1916 after having been wounded & suffering from dysentry at Gallipoli.

G/9878 Pte. Charles Spencer Hughes, 4th Battalion Royal Fusiliers, k.i.a. F&F 9th November 1916. Served with the regiment at Gallipoli.

10280 Pte. Benjamin Moore, 6th Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment, k.i.a. F&F 10th June 1917. Served with the battalion on the Peninsula.

24531 Pte. Jeremiah Nicholls, 9th Battalion Notts & Derby, k.i.a. 4th October 1917. Served with the battalion on the Peninsula.

18280 Pte. Sidney Radford, 6th Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment, k.i.a. F&F 30th September 1916. Served with the same battalion on the Peninsula.

Are you just interested in the British or Australians, Kiwi's, and Newfoundlander's as well. If so then there must be tens of thousands of them, that's one huge job.

One way to do the Australians would be troll through the Embarkation Rolls.

Pte Ambrose Kennedy 4475 5th Batt. Connaught Rangers was wounded 21/8/1915 at Gallipoli, transferred home to recuperate he later joined  the 1st batt Connaught Rangers 20/2/1916 in Mespotamia where he died of Cholera on the 27/4/1916, all details confirmed on service record.

“On the early morning of the 30 Sept the Bn delivered an attack on the enemy positions of Mt L’Ouevre. The attack was unsuccessful and causalities of 2 Officers and 64 OR’s were sustained. In the evening of 30th Sept the Bn was relieved by the 52nd L I and the 24th R.Fus and moved back into bivouac positions west of Nine Wood.”

    A draft of 72 men from the 7th Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers,49th Brigade,16th Irish Division joined the 5th Connaught Rangers at Basingstoke, these men were transferred to help bring the 10th Irish Division up to strength on 12 June 1915. I think Pte Ambrose Kennedy (Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers number 14375) was part of this draft.

Just been checking through some of my notes, not a lot I'm afraid, but I do have some 1/5th Suffolk men for you:

Private 1880 (later 240308) Herbert Abbott , who would have landed with the battalion at Suvla 10th August 1915, died at 15th General Hospital on 22nd February 1918 in Egypt (still serving with the battalion); buried Alexandria (Hadra) War Memorial Cemetery.

Private 2484 (later 240612) Walter William Avis of D Company (would have landed at Suvla on 10th August 1915) was killed in a Turkish bombing raid on the battalion camp at Ramleh on 26th November 1917 (date of raid from the battalion history, though his death is recorded as 27th November); buried in Ramleh War Cemetery.

Private 1926 (later 240337) James Charles Leathers (landed at Suvla on 10th August 1915) died of wounds 30th November 1917 in Egypt; buried in Kantara War Memorial Cemetery. (James' brother, Private 240650 [ex 1/5th Battalion] William Robert Leathers was killed in action on 27th September 1917 during the 3rd Ypres serving with the 2nd Battalion Suffolk Regiment; he's commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial - but I don't think he was a Gallipoli veteren.)

Private 3354 Albert T Threadgold landed on Gallipoli as part of a replacement draft 8th October 1915. He later died in France on 19th October 1916 serving as Private 43924 in 9th Battalion; commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
