A pal has this, and wondered what it might have held in it's day. Something substantial, he reckons. It's pretty robust.

Hello, Mike - It's a German WWI machine gun ammunition box for the MG 08. It should have a metal partition running lengthwise down the center, but many have been converted into toolboxes by removing the partition. Regards, Torrey
