You are cordially invited to the next meeting of the Wolverhampton Branch of the WFA.

Our Talk this month is entitled “Escape from Germany – the greatest POW breakout of the Great War” by Neil Hanson. A prolific author, Neil spoke to us last year on the topic of the First Blitz which was very well received. Neil’s website may be found here:
http://www.neilhanson.co.uk/

Meetings are held in the Lecture Hall of St Peters Collegiate School, Compton Park, Wolverhampton WV3 9DU. If using a SatNav (or just a good, old-fashioned A - Z), make sure you approach from the A454 Compton Road West and NOT the A41 Tettenhall Road.

http://maps.google.c.../maps?q=wv3 9du ... 10.19,,0,0

Bear right and follow Compton Park along; the school is about 800yds down the road, past the Wolverhampton Wanderers FC Training Ground and on the opposite side of the road. If you reach the gate across the road you've overshot by 50 yds!

A contribution of £2 would be appreciated to cover the costs we incur in hiring the hall; you get a free tea or coffee and piece of home-made cake thrown in. Meetings begin at approx 14.00hrs for a 14.30hrs start.

All are welcome.

John,
I'm thinking of coming over on the metro from B'ham could you give me a bus number that leaves Wolverhampton Bus Station and runs somewhere near the Lecture Hall.
                                                                         Best Wishes

OK.

You need the No. 1 to Tettenhall Wood; helpfully, I don't think it goes from Wolvo's new mega-million, state-of-the-art Bus Terminus.  If you know the Art Gallery in the centre of town, you can pick it up there.

As you leave town, it's the first bus stop past St Jude's Church.  You'll find St Judes' on the opposite side of the road - quite an impressive building with a steeple.  On the same side of the road as the bus stops, turn into Newbridge Crescent and then Newbridge Avenue; St Peter's school is only a few minutes walk away.

Have a dekko at the Google Maps link posted above.

Hope this helps.

It's a pleasure, old chap.

I won't be there myself as I'm away on holiday, but I'm sure you'll be made welcome.

Hello
In the absence of John, if you have any problems with your transport arrangements just drop me a pm and I'll see if I can help.

The No 1 seems to be every 10 mins or so, and it can only be 5 or max 10 mins to the stop you need on the Tettenhall Rd, the buses seem to be every 10 mins or so.

The google map doesn't show the post code 'box' exactly where the school is. WV3 9DU is the correct post code, but this is shown adjacent to the Compton Rd. The school is just on the boundary of Newbridge Avenue & Compton Park, actually in Compton Park. If you come from that direction and go past the Wolves training ground, you've gone a bit too far.

Any problems, just drop me a pm and I can let you have an annotated map.

regards
Andy
