The next meeting of the Somme branch of the WFA will be on the Tuesday 10th July, venue will be le Musée Somme 1916 in Albert starting at 7.30pm.
Our speaker for the evening will be Dave Tattersfield, Dave's topic will be "The court martial of Willie Stones ".
The entrance for the meeting will be via the museum shop entrance in the park.
As the main gate to the park is always locked at 6pm, we will be using the gate via Rue de Bordeaux.
Directions - With your back to the Basilica, walk down the Rue de Bordeaux, past the Highlander pub on your left.
At the bottom of the Rue de Bordeaux, look straight ahead at the gate, enter the park via this gate.
Anyone having a problem finding the gate please wait by the entrance to the museum, we will guide people from there between 7pm & 7.30pm.

Our August meeting will be on Thursday 9th August, Our speaker will be Peter Starling, his topic, Mistaken Gallantry - The Medical Victoria Crosses of the First World War.

Tim – grand, you’re a gentleman. (Could I also mention chocolate biscuits, preferably plain chocolate, but milk is ok at a push :lol: ).

Look forward to the evening’s presentation. The case of Lance Sgt Stones and the two men buried beside him, Lance Corporals Goggins and McDonald, is a very interesting one. The apparent “attitude” towards their battalion, from the higher echelons, might be a story in itself.

Will hopefully see you on the 10th.

Ayesha and I will be staying at Avril's, on a study week organised by Andy Robertshaw. Albert isn't far, but they have something organised for that evening. If not, then I will suggest that we come over to Albert for theevening, so we could meet up with Pals.

It was another great night with a very good presentation from Ian Gumm.
Next years speaker list is starting to come together, and it looks like we are being honoured with another amazing list.
