I recently researched a man who was killed at Malassise Farm on 21 March 1918, and two days ago took two of his grandchildren to walk the ground where he died. The family have quite a bit of material about him: letters, photos, etc. They also now have all the "official" stuff; war diaries, battalion history, maps etc, and they have a very good overview of what happened.
A plea: if any forum members have or know of any personal artefacts relating to any of the men of the the battalion on the day, the family would be really grateful to know of it. By this I mean material in private hands rather than in museums or archives. Any letters, newspaper clippings (particularly from the Cork area, although they are about to look through the Examiner), photos, sketches, notes etc would all be of interest. This is all part of a mission to build up as detailed a picture as is possible.
(By the way for anyone looking for a new area for a tour, the fighting at Epehy and Malassise Farm on 21 March 1918 is a good subject. The ground layout makes interpretation of the diaries and narratives quite straightfoward and you can get a very good feel for how the battle unfolded).
