A few weeks ago, a conference on the heritage of the WW1 battlefields in Flanders was held in Ypres. the focus was mainly on which inventarisation projects are going on. The presentations are all online now, but only in dutch.

I think this particular presentation will be of interest to forum members who are regular visitors to the Flanders battlefiels: http://www.slideshar...-jeroen-geurtst shows the canges that will be made to some well known sites such as the pool of peace, hill 60 and the caterpillar crater, as well as some minor landscape programs to make 'no man's land' visible in the landscape. Some sites will change drastically, don't be suprised!

Please keep in mind that this is a masterplan. People familiar with these kind of studies know that the hard and direct images and principles will be much 'softer' in the translation in the field.

This potentially interesting topic looked like it might have developed legs, but has died in the water.

I'd have to suggest that posting Dutch language material on what is essentially an English speaking forum is a bit futile unless some translation is provided. No doubt we'll have an understandable insight into these plans at some time in the future, though I have a sneaking suspicion that what eventually appears may not be universally popular

On the above website: Select "Start", then "projectwebsite 2014-18" under "Projecten".This gives access to a choice of languages. At the bottom of teh English section click on the download, and you get a 54 page leaflet. This presumably tells you all about the plans, but I have not yet had time to read it.
