In the course of going through the South Africa Roll of Honour for WW1, from tiem to time we find extra casualties.

I'm able to get service files from South Africa archives but if the casualty is a UK unit then I'm stuck for help.

We have a man that I need someone to check on me for.

Pte. George Meade, KRRC, KIA in October 1916. Presumably reg. # R/5937

He SA service card says he was MM and MID, but could only find MM LG entry.

He is not on CWGC that I can find.

Here is our entry in the SA database.

Unknown Unknown UNKNOWN CEMETERY MEADE G GEORGE Private R/5937 King's Royal Rifle Corps 2nd Bn. 1-Oct-16 31-Oct-16 0 Killed in action ref. Ancestry24.co.za & ref. South African Roll of Honour 1914-1918 M M ***Not yet accepted for War Grave Status by CWGC, need service file

I can send PDF of his service medal entitlement and MM entitlement and LG entry for his MM.

But can someone look for a death certificate and I shall gladly pay via Paypal.

Email me more at: ralph@southafricawargraves.org

for further details.

CWGC is playing up tonight so can't access it
He's not listed on SDGW nor the Armed Forces BDM's nor In From The Cold (http://www.infromthecold.org/ ) but they might have already picked him up

Did notice that his MIC gives his number as K 5937 - http://www.nationala...&resultcount=16

Medal card of Meade, George
CorpsRegiment No Rank
King's Royal Rifle Corps K5937 Private

Found his MM in the LG (07/12/16 - 29854 - 12049) and the number is R5937

Looks like you'll have to wait for someone cleverer than me to wake up and help you

His MIC says that he was discharged, and there is reference to a SWB. So perhaps he was not killed.

Edit. His actual MIC gives R5937 - the NA reference gives K5937
