On 16th June 1915 a battle took place at Bellewaarde / Hooge

I and a few pals will be visiting the battlefield and if you are available you are very welcome to join us.

I thought I would let you know exactly what I and the other Pals will be doing when we visit.
I will be arriving in Ypres in the early afternoon of Friday 15th June and I have booked to stay at the Albion Hotel.
I hope to meet you and others for an evening chat at 19:00 at the hotel.
I have asked the others if they would join me at the battlefield on the morning of the 16th at 05:15, the start of the attack. This will give us the opportunity to pay our respects and take in the atmosphere and also take some photographs.
The afternoon of the 16th we will be at the RBL, Ypres, Garden Party and at 19:00 we will join the march to Menin Gate for a Memorial Service with the Royal British Legion.
On the morning of the 17th June we will be back at the battlefield and will also visit the Hooge Crater Museum and the owner has had a chat with his friend, the owner of Bellewaarde Farm who will allow us to walk on his land.
I will be returning the Calais early afternoon.
I would be honoured to meet you, so please let me know if you can make it for all or any of the activities.
Regards
Martin

Thanks Ian!
We will, of course, visit the Liverpool Scottish memorial and say a few words there as well as the Menin Gate.

Much appreciated, Martin. In due course (actually in the not too distant future when I am through marking), we should speak about 2015

Hi dannyboy1807.
My visit to the battlefield was enjoyable and emotionable at the same time. I have written a piece about the trip and added some images on My Bellewaarde 1915 (WW1 Group) page on Facebook. You can see this at https://www.facebook...ellewaarde1915/  I will also be adding this to the main website at www.bellewaarde1915.co.uk  If you have any material regarding Septimus I would be honoured to add them toe the Bellewaarde site as a memorial to him. Please let me know?

Regards
Martin

Martin, your website is superb and I have spent some time reading and will revisit it again.

The account from 'Mud and Khaki' (The Honourable Artillery Company) was quite gripping.

Regards,

Joseph

Many thanks Joseph, I glad you enjoyed your visit to the site.
I have written about my trip to Bellewaarde on the 16th June and added a few image which I will add to the site in a few weeks time. The reason for the delay is that I wish to make some major technical updates and for that to happen I need to improve my Javascript skills. You can, however, read about it on my Bellewaarde page on Facebook at Bellewaarde 1915 WW1 Group , let me know what you think?
