I’m after some basic information about the history of the Limbless Soldiers Association, how they came about, and in particular their establishment in Australia.

There doesn’t seem to be a great deal of information on the net and would like to know if there are any specific books that deal with their formation and history. I assume that they originated in the UK and then spread throughout the Empire countries? However I’m not even sure about that.

Thanks,

Scott

Thanks Jane. I'll contact BLESMA and see what they suggest.

Terry,

Trove has a lot of information in the form of newspaper articles about the association in each state and that link seems to be a collection of newsletters but will dig them out at my next visit to the State Library. They seem to have finished up around 2004 in NSW.

I am looking for some general information about their formation. My father remembers them clearly from his youth when they were active around Sydney and believes that there were a few Boer War veterans amongst their members. I'm not sure about that.

Scott,
I am sure the Limbless association was active Australia wide, certainly when I was much younger (that's a long time ago) but as you say, they probably closed activities

through lack of members in the early 21st century.
