I have just obtained one of the French terracotta brick-like souvenirs, topped with a nicely modelled Adrian helmet, which contains the 'sacred soil' of France from the war years, in my case, from Verdun. I have seen others to Artois and wondered if members had any idea when they were made, or, in fact, if there is any other information upon them?

Thanks very much
Peter

I know nothing about them at all, but have a Verdun 'edition'. The soil had been removed when I bought it. I wonder if they were sold near the location commemorated  for 'pilgrims' to fill themselves as thry travelled the area..
