Gents, recently picked up a  BEF POW coin, with 1 Fr on the opposite.  Anyone know anything about these ?  Are they genuine ?

Yes they are genuine. I have one that beleonged to a man who served in the KOYLI's.

I wonder why the nominal value is French, not German or British?

A previous suggestion was that they were issued to german prisoners post war.
