Recently bought a photo album which belonged to a nurse at killingbeck hospital in leeds dated 1915, this was a loose postcard included with it, would i be right in thinking this is a 2nd LT.with the north staffs ?, its a great portrait, just wanted to share it on the forum,
regards,
John.

Hi John,

An excellent photo. Are there any identifying marks such as photographer?  It may be worth checking to see if the nurse married or if she had any brothers, what was her surname?  A quick look in the Army Lists for 1915 may throw up some possibles, if you would like me to check?

Looks very much like 2nd Ltieut. A.R.A. Leggett, one of the officers who embarked with the 1st.Battalion. Of course I could not possibly guarantee that, but I would put a small wager on it.

Did he die later in Oct 1914?
If so he and 2 other brothers (Wilfred Noel and Eric Henry Goodwin Leggett) died in the war.

Hi Alan,

I used to own A.R.A.Leggett's medals, and from other pictures of him I am 99% certain that it is not him.  Sorry to disagree.

all the pics in the album are dated 1915, sadly the nurse who owned the album is not known, from her uniform she appears to be a VAD, all the other pics are named but she captions her pics as "yours truly".
