If I may be so bold as to pull a Lazarus and raise this thread from the dead, I would like to put forth the following question:
Operating on the assumption it was taken between Feb. 9 1916 and the Armistice while he was with FAR 43, should I produce a list of all the places FAR 43 was in that time frame, would folks who know Western Front topography & geography better than I be able to at least rule out where this photo with certainty cannot have have been taken?

I don't know if you realise it or not, but the link in your first post to the original photo does not appear to work. I couldn't get it to load.
In answer to your latest - there's nothing to lose by it, so why not!

Hi Phil,
Ugh. The site I used for photo hosting apparently made some tweak and now I have to go and update all my photo links. I'll fix that later. I'll also pull together the list this evening and we'll see if this approach helps us to narrow the field a bit.
