Can anyone identify the piece in the picture? Is has been flattended (by a tractor). It has the same diameter as a Lewis gun drum, but I could not find a picture on the web that looks like it. Curious to know what it is.

TIA!

Regards,

Marco

I don't think it is from a Lewis magazine. Even the types with the relatively smooth top like the No.4 Mark I were not completely flat. Also, the folded rim does not look like it was originally the side of the magazine and there are no sign of the rivets between the crennelations.

I could easily be wrong though!

Thanks Tony ;) . I have it down as being non-ww1 untill proven different, but am curious since the diameter and the pattern of the rim are the same as the drum.

We will wait...

Thanks John. This part I have but in 'relic condition'. The other part was found IN a farm track and must have been run-over hundreds of times.

I'll throw it in a box labled 'MAY-BE'. ;)

Marco
