Incase these men may be of interest to someone:

The following British POWs are mentioned in the Australian Red Cross file of: J.P. Hennessy, Pte 1367, 14th Bn, AIF:
[Tash Kishla Hospital, Constantinople]

“Pte Shorthorn, Lancs Fus died in Taschkisha from neglect of wounds. (Shortall?)……………………
At Field Hospital in Narrows I was joined by Pte Samuel Sutcliffe, Lancs Fus and we were together until repatriated”
[statement by Pte James Powell, 4th Worcesters, No. 8950 – Taschkisha Hosp, Oct 1915 – Jan 27 1916, Ex POW]

“I know that at least five men died whilst I was here: - ……Pte Shortall of pneumonia, I think he was a Lancashire man, ……..”

Pte A.G. Thomas, 1463, 8th Hants – Taschkishla Hosp, Oct 1915 – Mar 1916

Notes:
SHORTHORN / SHORTALL:
The Red Cross query whether should this be Shortall not Shorthorn, and there is no Shorthorn on CWGC
However, Pte 10715, E.P. SHORTALL, 9th Bn, West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales’s Own) – died 7/12/1915 & is buried in Haidar Pasha Cemetery, Turkey, II.F.1 (Edward, born Leeds)

[SUTCLIFFE, S. – Pte 9631, 1/8 Lancashire Fusiliers – (2B) Balkans 5/5/1915]

POWELL, Francis James, Pte 8950, Worcestershire Regt – enlisted 13/8/14 – discharged 10/7/1918

THOMAS, Alfred G. – Pte 8/1463, Hampshire Regt – (2B) Balkans 10/8/1915
