I am disappointed to be missing this meeting (if only to extract urine from Pete) but on that evening sees a meeting of Sefton MBC at which I will be proposing that the Council contact Festubert, which Southport adopted in 1920. The sports hall in the village is still known as the Southport Memorial Hall, and two hundred or so of Sefton's men are still there, either in one of the three cemeteries in the village or named on the Le Touret Memorial to the Missing. I am hoping that this will result in contacts being renewed with the village before the centenary of the battle in 2015.
My apologies.
