Hi Everyone,

Did this officer serve at Gallipoli? All I have is that he served in this battalion from 1915-18. Any help? Thank you in advance!

The 1916 Army list shows him as a Captain (as of 11 Aug 1915) with the 8th battalion

Hi Seaforth,

Lieut E.G.M.Buckley is recorded as having been wounded at Gallipoli during August 1915, whilst serving with the 8th Bn.  I am not sure of the exact date but this would most probably be around the period of 10th to 20th August,  as the battalion were heavily involved in the fighting during this period.

Hope this helps.

Many thanks Gentlemen!

I just purchased his sword and wondered how interesting a regular officer straight of Sandhurst in Jan. 1914 was immediatley posted to a Service Battalion in 1915 having not served in France from August (?) Was he in France with either the 1st or 2nd? He later died in England in 1941 at the early age 48 probably from his war injuries........
I will get his MIC tonight.......

Thanks again!
