Particularly around the villages of Maroilles, Bougnies and Le Grand Fayt. Does anyone know where I can find some online accounts of the battles, statistics or official records?

Hi, I've got the diaries and after action report from Le Grand Fayt.  PM me with address and I will send you them.

16th August- left by train and went into billets at Mannevret
21st August- marched to La Groise(Chapeau Rouge)
22nd August- marched to Pont sur Sambre
23rd August- marched to Bougnies.  At 5.30pm moved into position and entrenched
24th August- dawn came under attack.  Noon carried out orderly retreat to La Dessous.  5pm marched to La Longuville
25th August- returned to Pont sur Sambre.  Releived by French troops in evening and marched to Noyelles

23rd August 1914
Left Pont sur Sambre to march to Bougines in Belgium, where bn, remained for a few hours.  Left at 5.30 pm & moved into position which was entrenched after hard work all night.  At night the Worcesters, Oxfords,& H.L.I, were detached on some special mission.

24th August 1914
At dawn we were attacked and heavily shelled.  The Bn remained in position till 12 noon, & then carried out an orderly retreat under artillery fire to La Dessons.  At 5pm we joined in with the Guards Brigade & marched to La Longueville.

I'm interested in this cause my ggranda served with them.

Hope this helps.

Dominic
