Hi I have contacted the CWGC about what I think is an error in their records for R.R.  Miller 143646 MGC and whose previous regiment is given by them (and SDGW) as 87194 Sussex R .The  MIC however shows service and medals awarded to the Middlesex regiment. The CWGC replied that the subsidiary information about Miller was on their original paperwork so understandably will not change anything without further information.
As far as I can see there never was any numbers to the Sussex regiment in the series 871** or anything like it so I think I’m on safe ground to suggest a Clerk somewhere in the distant past made a mistake.
I therefore was wondering if anyone has access to the Machine guncorps medal  roll Rolls as this may provide enough evidence to convince the CWGC.

Its been pointed out to me that he will be on the machine gun corps medal roll not the Middlesex so I have ammended post. This post is also on the BMF
Thanks

Yes, that's fine Gareth.  I'd take a photo of the original for you - I can get decent handheld pics.

Hi Louise,

Can I be very cheeky and ask you for a favour while you're in Kew and looking up the MGC.  I'm researching CQMS John O'Grady 166247 of the MGC and 7398 R.Dublin.Fus and I would apprecitate greatly if you could get a copy of his medal roll for me to see if there is a qualifying date.  The reference numbers are WO 329/1764  page 9168 MGC/101B110.
I'm trying to ascertain what bn of the RDF he was in when he arrived in France.
If its too much trouble then no problem and thanks for your time.
Regards

Johnny

Gareth,

I can confirm he was Robert Reginald Miller, 87194 Midd'x R. Death accepted 23.3.18. No other info. I'll PM you a link to the photo once I've uploaded it later.

Not at all, Gareth - you're welcome.

Do hope it's the evidence they require.
