As seen on a flyer in Waterstones Brum promoting the latest book on this man:

"Haig: as immortalised in the last episode of Blackadder"

You couldn't make it up!

I've heard there's a flyer in a Liverpool bookshop that says: 'Haig, the donkey that led the lions'

Oh dear another Haig thread, just hang on while I take my drink down to the deep dug out and insert the ear plugs. Done - OK carry on gentlemen (I'm sure real ladies will shun the affray).

Siege,

I was laughing so much at the writing on the card I didn't look at the book, I'm afraid.

I would suspect that for many the "imortalised in Blackadder" was the first time they had been made ware of FM Haig.

Although the potrayal of Haig  and the general incompetence is a travestry of the truth i always find "Blackadder goes forth" extremly funny partly i think because I relaise the message of Domkeys and Idiots is not generally true.

I suspect there were niave subalterns, Staff officers who would prefer to remain back in a GHQ and old veteren cynical B-----rs like Capt Blackadder.
