I hope many of you Birmingham Pals will be attending the Gallipoli Association Conference at Tally Ho on Saturday 11 August. Many of the speakers and guests will be patronising hostelries in the centre of Birmingham the night before. Probably including the Old Contemptibles, but Pete Knight has another jolly good real ale pub in mind as well!! See the thread on the GWF for more details or I can repost here. Anyway I will at least keep you informed on the Friday booze up!

Hello all potential Gallipoli Conference attendees.

As Liar Pete has mentioned above the Friday evening on previous get together's have been held in the Old Contemptibles pub. This is a fantastic venue and serves some half decent real ales. It is however always heaving with the on the way home work force stopping in for a few beers. This does make it a little crammed. There is another pub not a million miles away called the Wellington. It may be equally as crowded but they have a vast array of real ales at very reasonable prices. The downside is they do not serve food but there are plenty of eateries in the immediate vicinity and in the pub next door. I will attach a link to the Wellington at the bottom of this post. It may well be that most staying over on the Friday  would just prefer to go to the OC's but the Wellington in my humble opinion offers a much broader and far superior range of ales.

Equally arrangements could be made to meet in the OC's early doors for those that wish with a view to moving on to the Wellington for say 20:00 hrs. This will give people time for a meal in the OC's before moving on to the Wellington if they so desire.

Here is the current beer board.

Hi Seemingly Truthful Pete,

I wuld suggest the Gallipoli mob meet for early doors at the Old Contemptible at around 20.00 then to the  Wellington at around 21.00 and then the world is our oyster! Hope the Brummie Pals will consider joining us feckless interlopers?

I still think the 21st or the 28th July is good. For those who wish to meet up for the Gallipoli conference that will be a bonus. TT & Alan can't make the 21st so lets go for the 28th!!!! Decisions, Decisions.

Best I can do is late Aug / early Sept so chaps you will have to have a beer in my honour. Shame cos the Wellington is tops for real ale!

Missed this thread the first time round due to exams, holidays and the start of the new Conference Premier football season, what about a meeting in mid September, the hoilday season should be more or less over and the kids will be back at school (hoorah).
