I am trying to trace a C Hartless Cross keys  one of only eight names on this memorial
Cross Keys was originally  a public house in the village of Pentrefelin, Dolbenmaen District  Caernarfonshire but is now a private house.
The surname itself is unusual for this area and only appears once in Army records  but not sure if this is our man being so far from his regiment
whether he was staying or living there.

Myra

See post 5 and last para  post 8 on your other, unacknowledged, thread regarding this memorial

He is on the 1911 census within a few miles!!
Plus the place of birth on the casualty provided is the exact same small village in Salop as the one on the 1911 census.

Thanks everyone. Now know that G Hartless worked at  Wern Manor in 1911 before he joined up and that the Cross Keys was still a pub in 1911 run by a couple called Jackson.
