Hello all,

Through a process of many months and the help of countless people on this and other forums I have discovered the approximate area of death of my great grand uncle during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. I just now looked at the site on Bing Maps (Google Maps has a different picture) and the aerials seemed odd. I saw lots of lightly colored squiggly lines in the area. I have attached a photograph:

To my untrained and overexuberant eyes, these are the remnants of the 1918 trench positions my great grand uncle was engaged in when he died. Am I correct in this assumption or am I crazy?

Best,
Justin

EDIT: For the curious, X marks the spot of my ancestor's original burial in 1918.

Justin, sadly the marks look more like an off-road circuit rather than trenches. Egbert and others have posted Google images where old trench lines are clearly visible. The lines look very different - more linear and not the very curved that you have spotted.

Justin,

I agree, they look like dirt bike tracks for sure. Have a hunt through the forum and you'll find photo's of what trench lines look like.

Cheers Andy.
