Hoping someone would be kind enough to give me any details, if known, surrounding the death of Lt Leonard Raymond Titchener, 5th Kings Own Royal Lancasters attached 22 SQN RFC (Formerly a Sgt with the 1/5th). He was killed in action on 3rd December 1917 and is buried in Aire Communal Cemetery in the Pas de Calais.

Lt L R Titchener was the pilot of Bristol F2B A7230, with Sub Lt H K Johnstone (formerly Royal Naval Division) as observer, when the aeroplane collided with Bristol A7268, also of No 22 Sqn, flown by 2Lt F A Biner, with AMI D W Clement as observer, near Aire.  All four airmen died in the accident.

I hope that this helps you.

Gareth

Thank you so much for that, Gareth. I wondered why he was buried in Aire, when he's down as KIA. Sad way to go after surviving the Hell of the 2nd Ypres.

A small additional detail is that the collision happened whilst both machines were taking off.
Hope this helps.
