Not sure where to post this, but I wondered whether anyone has any insight into when periodicals are likely to be available again at the Imperial War Museum.  This is obviously one of the most important collections of military material in the country (and also happens to be near my home). I have been trying to access some regimental magazines for some years now, and have inquired several times during this period. The most recent response (in May) was as follows:

"Thank you for your enquiry relating to the Imperial War Museum's periodical collection.

"I am sorry to inform you that we still do not have a date for when the collection will become available. If you have not already done so I do suggest that you try the British Library to see whether they hold copies of the journal.

Since the British Library and National Army Museum don't hold the material I need, I'm getting a bit desperate.

Has anyone else had a similar problem?  And does anyone know when this material is likely to be available again?

I had the same problem some 18 months ago.  I was told they had been moved to Duxford pending building works being carried out and they would be there for at least 12 months  to which was added, rather ominously "if they are returned at all".

Same here. I am after a journal produced for the force in Palestine. But every enquiry has been met with a vague answer, which hints that the staff at IWM have no idea when this might end.

Interesting to hear from others who have run into the same problem.  I know that Bryn Hammond is a visitor to this forum and I'm hoping he might be able to shed some light on this - and hopefully give us some idea when this material might be available again.
