Hi

can any member in the Wrexham area who makes regular visits to the Wrexham library or archive

help with newspaper obits for the soldiers below, all who served and died with the King's Shropshire L.I.,

interestingly four of these soldiers all died within days of each other, same battalion, and all enlisted at Wrexham, some with connections to the town or area,

all other avenues of research has failed to find any information other than Soldiers died and CWWGC

but would be interested to know if the local Wrexham paper reported their deaths,

any help much appriciated

PHIL

Here's a small snippet from the Liverpool Echo of 20/10/16;

PRIVATE ASTON, WREXHAM. Mr. William Aston, Bodlondeb, Wrexham, a prominent member of the Denbighshire County Council and other public bodies, received information yesterday that his second son, Private Frank Aston, had been killed in action.

Phil, popped into Denbighshire Archive local branch today to look for your men. The bad news is that they have gaps in the newspaper sets for Wrexham including 1916. However they are available at Wrexham so will go there as soon as convenient.

On the off chance I thought I'd check a North Wales paper for Oct/Nov '16, always a good read anyway.
Now the good news, incredibly there on page 5, 4th Nov. 1916, one of my mam's brothers!! A photo and the identity of his first regiment.
Amazingly we've only tracked him in the last week thanks to another fluke via smart forum members.

So I owe you one. Watch this space, thanks, Jules.         :thumbsup:

P.S. this is my post title if you are interested          18th London Regt. soldier. and TR numbering advice sought
