Dear Dick Flory

If you have the memorial book for King Edward VI School, Bath, could you please look up Lt Clement Aubrey SYMONS, Gloucestershire Regiment.  KIA 25th September, 1915.  Nephew of A E Housman.

He was also a schoolmaster but I am not sure if he taught at the above school, too.

Many thanks ... Maricourt

Thanks Bill, for the information - much appreciated.

There are two letters in my old copy of War Letters of Fallen Englishmen.  I gather at least one other brother served in WW1 [he survived].  Housman wrote to his sister, Katharine, after reading about the death of her son in The Times.  I'm interested if any of his letters have survived.

Dick

Do you possibly have anything on a Hugh Cyril Kenion from Birkenhead, who was a boarder/pupil at Charterhouse 1901 aged 17?

Formerly a sergeant with King Edward Horse. As a 2nd Lieutenant 2nd Bn. Lancashire fusiliers, he died 1/7/1916
I have also written to the archivist at Charterhouse
Also have the small entry from Charterhouse Register 1872-1910 on Ancestry

Thanks

Hi Dick,

I wonder if you could confirm the source of the photograph of Lieut.E.W.M.Burrows, R.F.A.   I have looked in the The Melvill Family book on-line and can find no mention of his portrait from this source.

Many thanks,

Robert

Dick,
Many thanks for the information on Milsom and Lawson, it is much appreciated.

Andy

Hello,
I've just subscribed to this website researching my Milsom family (Bath, UK).  Earlier this evening I was 'chatting' with Tom Morgan who said he would write to you for assistance, but now I've found you myself I believe.

Sidney Milsom was my Grand Uncle, KiA at Hooge 30 July 1915. Posted Image  I understand from a locked forum entitled 'Do you own (or have you owned) a Memorial Plaque, you actually have one for Sidney.  My father, Sidney's nephew, now aged 80 would be delighted to be able to see this plaque and I wonder whether we could perhaps discuss this at some point.

I am going to be out of the country from tomorrow for 2 weeks, but would be very pleased to have a conversation with you (via email or the chat room here) to find out more about Sidney (and perhaps his brother, Edward Winfrid Milsom, killed at Battle of Jutland).

I look forward to hearing from you in due course and thank you in anticipation.

Most generous 'Old Sweats'. If you are still in the look up business could I ask for 2/Lt William George Beaumont-Edmonds, Merchant Taylors' School, London, about 1900 but may have been just Edmonds at that time.  Thanks Ralph

Hello again Dick,
Could I please request a look-up under Bromsgrove School if possible, for a Lieut. Arthur Eldred Barker Sutton of Rock Ferry, Cheshire?

He was at the school (in Gordon House I think) as a 17-year old in 1911 Census.  Later King's Liverpool Regt. and RAF, died 4 July 1918.

Thanks,
Clive

Hi Dick,

you very kindly helped me when researching my book, 'Dorchester Remembers the Great War'. I am now looking at the Durnford School, Dorset memorial.

Do you have any info on a Rugbian named Douglas Harvey, Lt 2Btn Grenadier Guards. KIA  27/3/1918?

Many thanks,

Brian.

Hi Dick

Could I please request a look up for Daisy street council school, Kirkdale, Liverpool, for a Thomas Smith, 5th King's (Liverpool) Regiment, KIA 20/09/1917.
He was born in 1886 so I think he may of went there about 1898 and lived on Fonthill road, Kirkdale.

Kind regards.
