Hi Scritch

Thanks for your note, just had a look at your website and must say it is a great one.  I have been collecting War Memorials, War Graves and Monumential Inscriptions for a few years now and a couple of years back decided I had too many not to share.  Found Great War Forum and love adding to it now, they do a great job too.

Re Owen William Parry that you have on the Alderley Edge memorial. Everything that I have points to that particular Owen Parry being linked to Bangor, Caernarfonshire including a book written shortly after the War. I note that when you have a doubt you state 'unable to find correct etc' Do you have anything about him and Alderley Edge that I may update my file? I'll send you what I have if you want.
(The canadian casualty has links to Cheshire albeit the bit that is now the Wirral)

Son of John and Ethel Davis nee Thompson of Grindleford and brother of Michael who also fell. Buried at St John’s Crematorium burial ground, Woking, Surrey [Extract from the London Gazette dated 25th October 1940] “Pilot Officer Charles Trevor Davis [33563] has destroyed six enemy aircraft. He has displayed great dash and courage in his many combats and his gallantry in fighting against any odds has been conspicuous”

Davis Michael Harburn, Lieutenant, H M Submarine Rainbow Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve died  October 1940 aged 26. Son of John and Ethel Davis, nee Thompson of Grindleford and brother of Charles who also fell. Commemorated on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial, Hampshire

Pennock Charles Eggington Staff Sergeant, 4037174, 9th Durham Light Infantry died on active service 3rd September 1942 aged 25 eldest son of Ethel and the late Frank who fell in 1917, husband of Joan Lomas Pennock of Tideswell, Derbyshire, and brother of Frank who also fell. Commemorated on his mother’s memorial at St Helen’s churchyard, Grindleford [Memorial has 26] Buried at Hadra War Memorial Cemetery, Alexandria, Egypt

Youngest son of Ethel and the late Frank who fell in 1917, and brother of Charles who fell in 1942. Commemorated on his mother’s memorial at St Helen’s churchyard, Grindleford and is buried at Ramleh War Cemetery, Israel

Ridgeway Henry Bonnington,  Lieutenant 293725 132nd Regiment Royal Armoured Corps attached to 7th Suffolk Regiment died 9th August 1944 aged 21. Son of Clement Bernard and Doris Ethel Ridgeway of Padley Derbyshire. Buried at Florence War Cemetery, Italy
