I might manage to toddle down for a half pint.

Which won't exempt you from buying whole pints for the rest of us.

Bad news lads. Some of the pubs in the Ferry are open to 2.00 a.m. on Sunday morning. This means the Kebab shop will be closed at chucking out time! :o

A fine night, apart from the music in the fort, was glad to put George right on old yellow hair. Not sure what time I went home Jim, Mrs M will know the answer no doubt and will probably be only too happy to remind me.

Jim, I'm afraid we took advantage of it being Gala Week, and Ian and I ended up still being at The Fort when it closed at 2am! Neil left us not too long before that, I believe.

Evening all.

Bad news i'm afraid. We have had no option but to cancel the next WFA Tayside branch meeting on Saturday 6th August as the speaker George Webster has had notification to go into hospital for an operation and will not be fit enough to attend.

A letter to all those on the branch's database has just literally been posted advising them of this also.

Its a pity as we were all looking forward to hearing about Haig however i assure everyone that the event will be rescheduled.

The next branch meeting will therefore be on 3rd september 2011 when Mike Taylor speaks about Crozier. I'll post more details nearer the time.

Regards as ever

Hi all,

Small reminder that the next WFA Tayside meeting is on Saturday 3rd September when branch member Mike Taylor will give his Crozier talk. Usual time, usual location.

The latest Scottish branch newsletter will be available at the meeting. The auction item is a lovely limited edition Black Watch line drawing print.

Halloo all!

I've not managed to make it to any of the "meetings" so far, but I'm going to be in Dundee at the end of the month for a night or two. So, I thought I'd take the opportunity to see if anyone fancied meeting up for a pint or two on Friday 30th September? I know it usually tends to be Saturdays, but them's the dates I've got. Sorry. I thought it might be worth asking since I'll be in town. A chance to put faces to names and pints to lips and all that. :)

Anyhoo, thoughts?

Cheers

That'd be grand. It'd be good to have a bit of a chin-wag.

Whereabouts, then? Any thoughts?

Cheers

I'm sure there'll be some other folk who'll be up for a pint of lager and lime, or two. :)
I take it the pub is called "The Ferry", in Broughty Ferry? Would that be the Ferry Inn, on Gray Street?

"the Ferry" is a general name for Broughty Ferry. We have a few pubs there we frequent but our HQ is Jolly's, about 70yds north of the Ferry Inn on the same side of the street.

S'okay. I know the Ferry is called the Ferry, my brother was born in Broughty Ferry. Though, I'm a heathen teuchter from Fort William. :)

Jolly's sounds jolly. :)

I went to look at the stuff for auction tomorrow at McGregors in St Andrews.  There were two sets of Great War Medals.  One, a trio for JS WHYTE 630 R Highlanders.  The Star had Private 1/5th R Hldrs and the other two Cpl.  The other pair were for 176023  Pvt J Robertson Labour Corps

KOF, I'm really sorry, I have no idea what has happened with the other guys, whether they have stopped logging in for some reason.....Hopefully we can get something organised soon.

Have been abroad for most of the past month, and have just come out of hospital after further surgery on my knee last Thursday, so am hors de combat at the moment. I know Ian has just set off abroad today, so perhaps enough of us might be present and fit enough to get together towards the end of the month.
