Hey guys
I recently went on a battlefield tour to the Somme for four days 28th june - 1st July
I made four episodes about it with my pictures and clips,
It's just me talking about it for 40 minutes
I have some good clips from the 1st July at the Thiepval Memorial.

Hi Jen,
Well done! I have only watched episode 1, so far, but I will watch your other episodes, just that its getting rather late now. (I quite like watching the Olympics at this hour).
I was just thinking about the poppy at the IWM, is it from a Private Mudd? I haven't been for quite a while so I could be wrong. Oh yes, I love the car number plate too, I would pay a fortune for that!
Alie.

Jenny - you really put a lot of effort into this and its a job well done.
Ovillers is possibly my favourite place on the Somme - next time you go take a trench map and take a small walk to the north and around the back of the main street (there is a left turn/farmers track as you approach the village from the cemetery). The track dog-legs right and the land begins to rise - this is where the Germans had their machine gun spaced in about three interlocking rows. When you look towards the British lines you can appreciate how the MGs dominated with their field of fire.

We went with Holts Tours, they were fantastic. If you want to go on a tour I'd go with them.
Here's their website if you're interested
