Can anyone help in clearing up the 38th Welsh Division plaque on the Bunker at Gournier Fram. the bunker is on private land and I have been informed that the plaque was placed their by a farmer. though the bunker was not in the 38th area, it seems that there is the plaque.

It is very difficult to actually see the plaque or the bunker in the summer due to the crops.

Any ideas anyone.

Thanks

It was my understanding the plaque was placed there by veterans. I was there last week, and it wasn't visible due to crops.

Hi Paul,

Strangely enough, I have read somewhere the farmer placed it there. I have contacted all the regt museums and also RHQ. They have no records.

The plot thickens.

It has certainly been there since at least the 70s; am pretty sure it is in 1st edn of 'BEF' and I remember it in the early 80s.

For those members who are not familiar with this bunker, here it is. It is situated on the Pilckem Ridge, Flanders.

Alas, because of the deep mud, I could not get closer. The plague is above the left window-opening, but it is unfortunately not readable on my pictures without any corn plants, just deep mud.

I visited Goumier Farm last Easter - great weather, no-one around - so I walked around and inside the bunker (the entry door that seemed to be locked generally was wide open and no-one was there to object!). I have some great photos if anyone is interested.
