I'm interested in finding a copy of the Canadians at the Battle of Paardeberg, February 1900, by Arthur H. Hider. It was issued by the Globe and Mail in 1900. I believe it is a Chromolithograph. If any one knows where I could find one please let me know.

Thanks very much
Rich

That is the Boer War not the Great War. You might want to check here:

http://www.warmuseum.ca/cwm/exhibitions/bo...history_e.shtml

The war museum has an extensive research section as well and may have the text.

I checked the Internet Archive and it is not listed there. Should be?

A.H. Hider was an average(typically Canadian then!) commercial artist / illustrator who tended to specialize in horse subjects including of course Canadian mounted units. He did do some Christmas Globe colour plates around the turn of the 19/20 centuries. When you say Paardeberg I typically think of the famous R.C.Caton Woodville's painting/illustration reproduced in the Illustrated London News.

Hider did a very fine large colour plate for the Christmas Globe of 1911 showing the Sir Wilfrid Laurier and the Canadian Contingent featuring the NWMP (now the RCMP) riding past Laurier reviewing the march past of the Canadians. It was printed by Stone Limited in Toronto and is signed in the lower left corner. Naturally it features horses. It shows the Wellington Statue in London, England in the middle background.
