manchester regiment
hiya folks.
can someone double check if ime correct about pte 11709 percy yates,19th manchesters.
he was killed on 9th/10th july 1916.
his medal card,lists no other unit.
i cant find a percy yates,that matches him,during the entire war.

I can't find him either, Bernard. And there's no listing in the GRO Overseas deaths so it looks that maybe he survived. However, I did find this bloke. Co-incidence???

are you sure he was a Pte-- Archives has a 11709 Percy Yates in the Manchester Reg as an acting Serjeant ? as John has said One was an alias as well.or has he two medal cards ?

There are two MICs:
1) For BWM & VM to A/Sjt Percy Yates, 11709 Manchester Regt. No further details.
2) For 15 Star to Pte D Yates, 11709 Manchester Regt. Marked KiA 9.7.16 - which is the date you gave for Percy's death!

Neither are in CWGC or GRO War Deaths as far as I can see!

it may be an error on his MIC,hopefully,his SR has survived,that may clear it up.
