Not an official account but,an American's first hand and well-written account (undated)of the part played by an American unit in a lost and difficult cause. Very well illustrated with period photographs of the life in a winter theatre of war. Go to HTML 973 KB and then click on main site.

This promises to be fascinating. While my father was ending his war in the Middle East, my mother, her brother and sister were sent to Pinega from Petrograd. In 1919, they were hastily transferred to Archangel, from where they were evacuated to England on an American troopship.
