Thanks very much for the info.
I'm looking forward to the Thomas Davis lectures as over the years I have always found these to be excellent.

Thanks Peter,
Ill have to get the brother in law to do a bit of recording for me as I'm going to be in Ieper from the 9th-12th, first time ever at this time of year and really looking forward to it. If i get any good photos i'll post them here.

Hi Fearghal,

Have a good time, are you over with a group? I will be in Brussels on the 13/14th for meetings, tried to get them moved to the 10/11th, but no joy. mad.gif

Just a small group of friends from Donegal/Derry - flying into Charles deGaulle on Sunday, staying in the Novotel and hoping to attend Passchendale on Monday evening where Tracey McRory is playing, Ieper on tuesday morning, Messines on Tuesday afternoon and Ieper again on Tuesday evening. Apparently there are two bands from Ireland going to be there on Tuesday and a choir from Tipperary but thats as much as i know at the moment.

Mark,

Interesting article by Mr Fisk but surely should be headed

'The Irish should not forget the massive debt they owe the Irish [volunteers of the great war]'.

For what exactly did Collins/De Valera achieve that John Redmond had not done with the Home Rule bill of september 1914.

And thankfully the 5000 deserters from the Free State army did not agree with De Valera's neutrality policy in WW2.

It is good though to see this now getting a wider coverage.

Unfortunately the British government were not too good at looking after any of the veterans.
