Following our trip to Flanders last summer my 21 year old daughter wants to attend something on 11th. She is lucky enough to live in London so I immediately said The Cenotaph and then realised that I didn't know 'the form', best place to be etc. Can anyone provide details of events on Sunday or Tuesday please which wont overwhelm her too much as she will be on her own.
Thank you.

This is from the WFA website
IMPORTANT CHANGES FOR 11TH NOVEMBER CENOTAPH & GUARDS CHAPEL SERVICE
This year, the Government has decided to mark the 90th anniversary of the ending of the Great War with special arrangements at the 11th November Cenotaph ceremony. As a consequence, the WFA has had to relinquish its own ceremony and instead has a lesser level of involvement in that special service. The precise arrangements have been made by the Ministry of Defence in consultative meetings at which the WFA has been represented by President Correlli Barnett, with support from Les Carter.
At the time of writing (since it is not impossible that the MoD makes further changes), we have been told by the MoD that WFA members will enter King Charles Street at the Cabinet War Rooms end and assemble that end of King Charles Street at 10.15am. It will be up to the WFA stewards (who Les Carter will have appointed) to ensure that only WFA members and their guests form part of this group. To assist in this process, WFA members are advised to bring along their WFA membership cards.
Following assembling, we shall then move up to the Whitehall end of King Charles Street where there will be a barrier cordoning off a large security area around the Cenotaph. We shall be allowed through the barrier, turning immediately left and into a compound allocated by the MoD for the WFA, although we may be joined there by some members of the public. Maurice Johnson, who normally welcomes those arriving in wheelchairs in King Charles Street, will seek to ensure that they are at the front of the WFA compound. This compound will be opposite the Cenotaph on the Downing Street side of Whitehall. However, arrangements for all wreath layers are different and they will gather elsewhere. They are to assemble in Embankment Gardens outside the MoD building at 10.15am. They will then enter the security area through a barrier and walk across Whitehall finishing up in front of the main WFA group, although separated from them by the security barriers. At the appropriate time they will be told when to move forward to lay their wreaths.
The MoD have said that we are restricted to a maximum of ten wreath layers and they are absolutely insistent, for security reasons, that they are informed in advance of the names of those laying wreaths and that suitable identification (passport or Photo Driving Licence) is carried by wreath layers for inspection on the day. Consequently, would all wreath layers please inform WFA Secretary Steve Oram asap (tel: 01628 522408). Any wreath layers failing to do this will not be allowed to lay wreaths as part of the formal service, but will only be able to do so later, following the end of the service and ceasing of the security zone.
At the end of the service, WFA members will leave through King Charles Street and proceed to the Guards Chapel. The Chapel service will start at a later time than usual at 12.00 noon. This will of course also mean that those having booked lunch at Peelers through Stuart Bufton will be eating a little later than usual.
